Volunteer At The Shelter
The Volunteer at the Shelter Experience at Humane Society of Greater Niagara offers a unique opportunity for groups to connect with our mission while making a meaningful difference for the animals in our care. Each visit begins with a short orientation and a behind the scenes tour of our shelter, giving participants a closer look at the work that happens every day to care for our animals and support people and their pets in our community. From there, teams take part in hands-on activities that directly support our programs.
Projects vary depending on the shelter’s current needs, but volunteers may find themselves:
- Creating enrichment toys for animals in our care
- Pre-packaging food kits for our Pet Pantry Program
- Helping with outdoor clean-up or gardening
- Organizing and sorting through donations
- Spending time socializing with some of our adoptable friends
Every task, big or small, plays an important role in improving the lives of the animals we serve.

Corporate Wellness Days
Corporate Wellness Days with Humane Society of Greater Niagara offer a calming and meaningful way for teams to step away from the busy workday and recharge together. While this experience does not involve hands-on volunteering, it provides a unique opportunity for your group to decompress, connect, and enjoy the therapeutic presence of animals while still supporting a cause that matters. During these visits, teams may spend time with puppies, kittens, or some of our older adoptable dogs who benefit greatly from gentle social interaction and extra affection. Each visit is a little different and may vary depending on animal availability.
Every moment shared helps provide comfort, enrichment, and positive experiences for the animals who need it most.

Meadow Visit With A Shelter Dog
Looking for a peaceful break in your day? Spend time in a quiet meadow in Niagara-on-the-Lake with one of our shelter dogs and enjoy some fresh air, gentle company, and unconditional love. It’s a simple, meaningful way to give a dog a much-needed change of scenery while recharging your own spirit. Perfect for individuals, couples, or small groups looking to connect with a four-legged friend in a calm outdoor setting.

Third Party Giving
Supporting the animals at Humane Society of Greater Niagara doesn’t always require a visit to the shelter. If your team isn’t able to come in person but still wants to make a difference, there are many fun and meaningful ways to give back right from the office.
