With no government funding, our operations rely entirely on charitable donations, fundraising efforts, and vital partnerships with compassionate businesses like yours. Corporate volunteering days are more than just feel-good experiences, they’re essential to the sustainability of our mission. Spending time with our adoptable animals brings smiles, laughter, and a renewed sense of purpose. Your team will enjoy hands-on experiences with our furry friends (who are very cute, if we do say so ourselves), and you’ll be making a real, lasting difference.
From supporting life-saving medical expenses to enhancing shelter infrastructure, your team’s time, energy, and compassion will have an immediate and measurable impact. It’s a win-win for your team, and for the animals who benefit from your kindness.
We offer a variety of customized corporate volunteer experiences that make for an inspiring day out of the office and into the heart of the community.
Volunteer At The Shelter - Half Day
Spend a few hours with us, where team-building meets tail-wagging! Your visit will start with a short orientation and behind the scenes tour of our shelter, followed by hands-on activities that directly support the animals in our care. Projects vary based on shelter needs, but your team might find themselves:
- Walking adoptable dogs
- Cleaning (dusting, sweeping, mopping, washing food bowls, etc.)
- Socializing with cats in our cat rooms
- Outdoor cleanup and or gardening
- Organizing donations and supplies
- Bathing puppies (yes, it’s as cute as it sounds)
- Writing bios to help animals get adopted
- Prepping enrichment toys and treats
- Helping us capture adorable content for social media

Volunteer At The Shelter - Full Day
Immerse yourself in a day at Humane Society of Greater Niagara with our behind-the-scenes Shelter Experience. Spend the day alongside our dedicated team, learning what it takes to care for animals in need, from preparing enrichment activities to helping with daily routines. You’ll meet adoptable animals, tour the shelter, and gain insight into our lifesaving work. This hands-on experience includes a catered lunch and is perfect for animal lovers, team-building groups, or anyone curious about the world of sheltering and rescue. A full day experience could look like:
- Participating in enrichment planning and administration for the shelter animals
- Joining strategy sessions on adoption campaigns and community outreach
- Direct collaboration with team leads on shelter operations projects
- Community cat shelter builds
- Adoption celebration kit assembly
- Painting projects (e.g. playrooms, murals, signage refresh)
- Large-scale projects to be discussed and approved by the Executive Director

Puppy Or Kitten Party
What’s better than a visit from a litter of adorable puppies or kittens? We’ll bring the cuteness to your office, school, or event for a fun and heartwarming experience your group won’t forget. This option does not include hands-on volunteering and is offered based on animal availability. Just show up, cuddle, and enjoy, while supporting the animals at Humane Society of Greater Niagara.

Dogs On Demand
Don’t have any dogs for “Bring your dog to work day”? No problem, our puppies can come to you! Our team will bring 1-2 adoptable puppies (or friendly dogs) to your office or event within Niagara. Every workday is better with dogs!

Meadow Visit With A Shelter Dog
Looking for a peaceful break in your day? Spend time in a quiet meadow in Niagara-on-the-Lake with one of our shelter dogs and enjoy some fresh air, gentle company, and unconditional love. It’s a simple, meaningful way to give a dog a much-needed change of scenery while recharging your own spirit. Perfect for individuals, couples, or small groups looking to connect with a four-legged friend in a calm outdoor setting.
