Small Animal Socializing

Volunteers in the Small Animal Socialization Program commit to a set weekly time to interact with our adoptable small animals, such as hamsters, rabbits, rats, ferrets, and more. These gentle, hands-on interactions take place in a calm, supervised environment to ensure the comfort and safety of both the animals and volunteers.

During each visit, volunteers help socialize small animals through quiet handling, enrichment activities, play, and cuddling where appropriate. This program helps prepare small animals for adoption by building their confidence, reducing stress, and exposing them to positive interactions with different people.

Socialization plays a vital role in helping these animals thrive in their future homes, especially for species that benefit from regular, gentle human interaction.
