Official Contest Rules & Regulations

Official Rules – “Hold On to Summer Contest”

Sponsor: Humane Society of Greater Niagara (“HSGN”), St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada.
Prize Donor: Freight Boy (paddle board donation). Facebook is not a sponsor.

1. Eligibility

Open to legal residents of Niagara who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Employees, officers, directors, contractors, and volunteers of HSGN, members of their immediate families (spouse, parent, sibling, child) and persons living in the same household are not eligible. Void where prohibited.

2. Contest Period

The Contest begins when the giveaway post is published on HSGN’s Facebook Page and ends on September 23, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) (the “Contest Period”). 

3. How to Enter (No Purchase Necessary)

During the Contest Period, locate the giveaway post on HSGN’s Facebook Page and complete all of the following:

  1. Follow Humane Society of Greater Niagara on Facebook;

  2. Like the giveaway post;

  3. Comment your favourite summer memory; and

  4. Mention one friend you’d bring paddling

Bonus Entry: Share the giveaway post publicly to your Facebook timeline.

Entries that are incomplete, illegible, fraudulent, or posted by bots/automation are void. Accounts must be at least 30 days old and show normal user activity. HSGN may disqualify any entry that, in its sole discretion, violates these Rules or community standards.

Multiple Entries: You may submit more than one qualifying comment during the Contest Period; each distinct comment that includes your summer memory and mentions one (1) friend counts as one (1) entry. Only one (1) bonus entry via public share per person is permitted.

4. Prizes (Total 3 winners)

  • Grand Prize (1): One (1) inflatable paddle board with pump and accessories included. Donated by Freight Boy AND Two (2) limited-edition HSGN t-shirts (one “Hang Loose” and one “Catch the Wave”). Winner will be asked which sizes for the t-shirts and the shirts will be made-to-order. 

Prizes are non-transferable, not redeemable for cash, and must be accepted as awarded. HSGN may substitute a prize of equal or greater value if a prize becomes unavailable for any reason.

5. Winner Selection and Odds

On September 24, 2025, HSGN will conduct a random draw from all eligible entries received. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries.

6. Winner Notification and Verification

Selected entrants will be contacted by Facebook direct message and/or reply to their comment. To be declared a winner, a selected entrant must, within 24 hours of notification:
(a) respond to HSGN;
(b) confirm eligibility and provide any required information (e.g., name, age, Ontario residency).
If a selected entrant cannot be contacted, fails to respond in time, is deemed ineligible, or fails the skill-testing question, he/she/they forfeit the prize and HSGN may select an alternate entrant.

7. Prize Fulfillment

Prize pickup will be coordinated with the winner(s) at HSGN in St. Catharines, Ontario. Winners are responsible for any costs not expressly stated as included.

8. Content Guidelines

Entries must be the entrant’s own original content, not infringe rights of others, and be suitable for public posting. Do not include personal information of others without consent. HSGN may remove/disqualify entries that are offensive, unsafe, or otherwise inappropriate.

9. General Conditions

By entering, entrants agree to abide by these Official Rules and the decisions of HSGN, which are final. HSGN reserves the right to cancel, modify, or suspend the Contest if fraud, technical failures, or any other factor impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Contest, as determined by HSGN in its sole discretion.

10. Release and Limitation of Liability

By participating, entrants release and hold harmless HSGN, Freight Boy, Facebook, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and agents from any and all liability for any claims, injury, loss, or damage of any kind arising out of or in connection with participation in the Contest or acceptance/use of any prize. Entrants assume all risk associated with prize use (including water-safety). Always follow manufacturer instructions and local laws.

11. Publicity

By accepting a prize, winners consent to the use of their first name, initial of last name, city/province, and likeness by HSGN for publicity purposes in any media, worldwide, without further notice or compensation, to the extent permitted by law.

12. Privacy

Personal information collected in connection with the Contest will be used by HSGN solely for administering the Contest and as otherwise permitted by law.

13. Facebook Notice

This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Facebook. By participating, you release Facebook from any responsibility.
